Why did they remove the playground from the Malta Community Park? It was a great playground for the Luther Forest community. It was nearby, for the hundreds of kids living in the Forest.
Malta Community Park Playground Release Date: February 27, 2008 Excuse our dust! This Spring the Malta Community Park playground will be getting a facelift. This new playground will feature an innovative structure called the EVOS. The playground area will be closed to the public during this construction phase. The Shenantaha Creek Park playground which was just installed last year will be open to enjoy during this time of transition. Construction should be complete by the beginning of Summer. Please stop by then and try it out!
This is the same equipment I was asking about in another post. I see on the Town Board meeting minutes that this equipment was transfered to the county (Resolution 118). Why is the equipment now in a town residents backyard?
KM is correct. The old playground is now sitting in the backyard of a house on Cramer Road. It's the first house on your left when you turn onto Cramer from Rt 9. Seems strange the Speedway would buy it and not put it at the Speedway. Was this open to anyone to purchase, was it advertised by the town for everyone to bid?
The man who maintianes the speedway and I beleive owns it, lives in the 1st house in on Cramer Road from Rte 9. This is where the playground from the town park is set up currently. Sounds like he pulled a fast one on the town seeing he has it set up in his own yard instead of the speedway for kids to play on during races or town events.
If the playground is not going to be finished until the beginning of the summer, why would they pull it from the park so early in the spring? Is there so much preparation for the new equipment that they would remove it from the public's use so early? My daughter loves the playground as it is close to our home, but to be without it for so long seems detrimental to the reason we have a playground in the first place.
If the playground is going up in the next few days, then I can understand the transition better. If we're going to be without a playground for months, I cannot but ask what the heck is going on? - Jim B. Meadow Rue Place

Well if the man who maintains the speedway bought it, I'm assuming he bought it for himself. Maintenance does not purchase for an organization, that's usually up to the executives.
Besides, I mean isn't the speedway on its last leg? Hasn't it been sold to people who want to use the land for other purposes?
How long does it take to put up a NEW playground anyway? a weekend? Why did they take it away if the new equipment wasn't ready to be put up quickly? My grandkids have been so dissappointed. We go to the Malta park to watch the girl's softball games and the playground area was great for siblings to play on. Now zilch. When will it be ready??
