This is happening again. No mail delivered for 2 days at our mail kiosk. I called the Malta PO foran explanation why? The carrier said BEES. He left no message in the kiosk or explanation re: no delivery. He says it is a safety issue because he is allergic to bees. (so sorry for him but maybe he should have an inside job and not delivery). My husband went out to the kiosk this Morning and sprayed the boxes & kiosk. The point is we are supposed to get our mail and this is NOT right. If there are Bees let us know, don't just stop delivery! Are we "mind readers"? The postal workers in the Malta office have a surley attitude toward patrons. What is wrong with them? Do you know there is no phone number even listed for Malta & Ballston Spa Post Offices in the phone books here? Why? I had to call 411 to get a number. When I lived in Copake the phone book had that PO number listed in the book. What is the Malta PO afraid of? Complaints? Well they are getting them from me. What is happening in your block regarding mail delivery??

Razz Well we finally got delivery today of our mail. There was a yellow sticker on it that said "delayed delivery-Bee Hazard". That is nice. Should I put that on my late payment of my Sears & phone bills? I am sure they will be understanding. Don't you?

You may not find this amusing but when I read your post about the bees I couldn't help but recognize the irony in that your screen name is "Honey" Smile

I bust out laughing when I read your post. You know I was thinking of giving the postman a gift of a jar of honey for Christmas. Sounds good and appropriate. Smile

You're a good sport, Honey! However, you are correct in saying that the Malta PO workers are sometimes surly to their patrons. I have experienced the same issue.

PERHAPS WE NEED TO COME UP WITH A NEW TYPE OF
MAILBOX SYSTEM THEN THE ONES CURRENTLY USED NOW.
THERE ARE TYPES OF CLUSTER MAILBOXES MADE WHERE
BEE'S OR NESTS WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO PENETRATE
INSIDE THE BOXES THEMSELVES.

I have seen those metal post boxes in a metal stand. People use there key to get into their box. I think it would cost a bit much to have them put in, however. I suppose what we currently have is OK. The post office carrier just has to let us us know when there is a bee problem in stead of just withholding mail without explanation.

Ermine Lair looked into them, very expensive, then you have to pay for labor and materials to install them.

I never understood the why we dont just have a traditional mail system. Like everyone has their own mailbox at the end of their driveway. Or even better, a mailbox or mailslot on the house.

Seems like the post office could save some money if they hand delivered their mail on foot.

I would think this current method of bulking the mail boxes together is more efficient ...Apple Way - you get get 4 houses in one stop .....Arrowwood - you get 8 houses in one stop.

I don't mind the HOA fees - the median on Partridge Drum is always well maintained and i have not had any issues with my mail box

I don't get it either. The folks on Featherfoil all have individual mailboxes and they look a lot better than the ugly green huts that are in various stages of disrepair.

the featherfoil houses are not in the association. they are traditional houses, not the wood-llok ones. they are exempt from dues.

You sure about that? The first several houses on the street are the same style as those on Meadow Rue (and the rest are a mix of 2 styles) and all the Featherfoil houses are included in the HOA resident guide (see page 14 of linked document).
