I thought they "loved" to pick up garbage and would do it for free if they could or least that's what one of their letters said as they rasied the rates.

These people are criminals.

I would happily switch to another company and would've long ago.

Notice how we get billed monthly now instead of every other month like before? That's because when they raise the rates again we don't notice it as much. People don't complain when the rate raises look small. But they add up in the course of the year.

I say ....oh .....about 2 months ....the garbage price increases ......people should double up and share one barrel between the two houses

I noticed the "billing" change also. If we have to stick with County Waste, I wish ALL the neighborhood associations would negotiate a deal like Ermine Lair did. I'm just waiting for the next price increase...

Yep. Our HOA dues are just about paid for by what we save in garbage pickup thanks to the HOA board's negotiations with County Waste.

I know I risk sounding like Mary Mary Quite Contrary. But I have to say I've always been delighted with the service these folks provide. When I've screwed up, they've helped me out. They are always gracious. And there is always a cat living in the office. And the cat always looks happy and well loved. It's hard for me to believe there is significant evil in an organization that is kind to me and the occasional stray cat.

I would assume it has to do with the cost of diesel.

What kind of rate increase are we talking about here?

keep in mind, these are only allegations about County Waste, nothing proven yet. Also, is it just a coincidence that the allegations are that County Waste owes Colonie $15 million at the same time that Colonie is facing a deficit of $18 million dollars? This will be interesting how this all plays out, and how they can prove it all.

Unholy, my Jack, who of course is a cat, says you and this movie are all wrong. Cats are full of goodness and light and dogs, spawns of satan that they are, are made of frogs and snails and, well, puppy dog tails.

This entire seen is very interesting. I'm not going to pass any judgement as all the facts need to come out. This is still America and you're innocent till proven guilty. I don't think it has anything to do with a Colonie deficit but it may come out that there are have been some illegal activities done by individuls. In my opinion everyone needs to let the legal system run it's course. In the meantime we put our garbage at the curb (smiling)

It seems to me if County Waste was not paying for a full load there had to be people at the landfill that were responsible for NOT weighing the trucks in. That means Pay-offs and the landfill supervisor had to know. (more pay-offs). This is a corruption scandal that probably goes much higher up. Organized crime maybe??

Answer: One is organized.

We had a service going back into the 90's, I can't remember their name now, but they were horrible! Garbage cans were always tipped over...they nickle and dimed you on everything...and just didn't seem to care. When County waste started coming in, the old service sent guys around in Limo's, as a marketing scheme, to your house, to try and keep thier business. I remembered thinking, instead of the marketing schemes, just focus on better service!
I can't comment on the corruption charges, until everything comes out...but County Waste Service has been exceptional!
And if they miss something for some reason, they are right on it, when you make a phone call back.With the price of fuel going through the roof, I think they have been reasonable, and have thoroughly explained every increase. The alternative you may get may not be to your liking!
