Does anyone have some good recommendations for driveway sealcoating? I have received an estimate from Hayes paving but thought it was a little high.

Does anyone have some recommendations for wall to wall carpet installation? I'm looking to get a few estimates, before making my final decesion.

And lastly, I'm getting some estimates for an underground sprinkler system and would like to get recommendations as there are many of them out there. Thanks for any input you may have.

Sealcoating: I've used Hayes and they do a good job. Check in the Clipper magazine or Penny Saver for a coupon. Probably everyone's prices have gone up given the price of oil.

Carpet installation: Home Depot has some good installers if you don't mind not really getting personal service. Also check Town and Country in Parkwood Plaza in Clifton Park. Tom (the owner) is an old-school businessman. He'll probably match the price you get anywhere else, he'll work around your schedule, and you can get 12 month no interest financing. I've had good experiences with both.

I can't offer any advice about sprinkler systems.

I just had Hayes do mine and they did a good job. Just make sure you seal all your cracks before they do it. I sealed about half of mine beforehand, and the ones I sealed look a lot better than the ones I didn't seal.

They quoted mine at $0.12 per sqft (I think they normally charge $0.15 per sqft), which is the best price I was able to find when I called around to a couple of places. Look at the Clipper magazine for their $0.12 coupon, or just mention that you saw it and they'll probably give you that price.

Ballston Carpet and Tile on Route 50 did a great job for us. They worked around our schedule and had four rooms carpeted and both bathrooms tiled in under a week. The only reason it took that long was because we had to move a lot of furniture back and forth and wanted to have a bathroom available so they worked with us on that. We worked directly with the owner. I think his name is Joe and he was great to work with. I'd recomend dealing directly with him instead of the sales people.

Is that the same guy that used to be in Malta on the corner of East High Street and Route 9 about 12 years ago before his place burned down?

We used Faragon Driveway Sealcoating two years ago and it still looks good. They came around Larkspur and have done a bunch of the driveways here.

BUYERS BEWARE OF BALLSTON CARPET

ALTHOUGH I HAVE NEVER DEALT WITH THEM, SEVERAL FRIENDS HAVE USED THEM AND NONE OF WHICH ARE HAPPY WITH THE JOBS THAT WERE DONE. MOST OF THE JOBS REQUIRED RETURN TRIPS TO FIX "FLAWS" IN THE CARPET OR THE CARPET COMING UP FROM THE FLOOR

It was a deal with the neighbors across the street. Somewhere under the 200 mark. Well worth it in my mind, it has held up very well. Our next door neighbors also used them.
