All,

The Democratic Candidate for the 20th Congressional District, Scott Murphy, has started his new campaign website, located at http://www.scottmurphy09.com/ . Details about his platform are found here.

Scott is also hosting a function at his campaign office today at 12:30pm to kick off his candidacy.

The special election is slated for Tuesday March 31, 2009, so please come out and vote for Scott. We need someone actually living in our district to win this seat.

Has he paid his taxes yet?
Is this the same guy from a small town in Missouri? The same guy that the St. Louis Dispatch is now questioning? And how long has he been a "resident" of NYS?

http://www.nypolitics.com/2009...y-answers-tax-issue/ - He answers the false tax accusations in his own words.

I wouldn't say that St. Louis Dispatch article questions anything substantive. In the times I have seen him speak, he has always been forthcoming about his Missouri roots and his work for the late Governor Mel Carnahan (aka the dead guy that beat U.S. Attorney General John Ashcroft...while dead!..Makes me wonder why George Bush would appoint someone as top attorney who lost to a dead guy, but we will save that for a different thread....)

I believe Scott has been here for 8-10 years, living in Glens Falls, but has been investing in the region for about 16. Again, longer than Tedisco has lived in our district (i.e. 0 years).

Have you asked also why Tedisco billed the State $21,000 for using a State vehicle? Does it really cost that much to drive from Schenectady to Albany for work?

I guess in an abbreviated campaign, the mud slinging has to start immediately.

In this race, there is really only one GOOD candidate: Eric Sundwall

http://www.sundwall4congress.org/

Vote for Sundwall on March 31!

Yes, because he did so well in the 2006 congressional election...With all due repsect, Sundwall will do nothing but draw votes away from Murphy, allowing Republicans to take back the district. Being as this is a nationally important election, it will be key to keep this district democratic, and congress in the democratic majority...but I'm biased and want to see this all happen. Change is still in the air....

The "air of change" just left my butt ....Obama has proved more of the same ..same ole - same ole in government. Nothing has changed.

Do you just blindly follow the Democrats ?
Do you have a mind of your own ?
Do you think ? or follow the herd ?

Unholy, do you really ever have anything intelligent to say that can add meaningful thought to a discussion? You are always personally attacking people on here and I am sure I can speak for many of us here when I tell you its enough...

I don't know if you've noticed but there has been more change for the positive since January 20th than in the previous 8 years combined. Our government has just passed a huge stimulus plan that is going to help all of us in making the economy better for this country. The President has set a timetable for exiting the mess in Iraq, he has closed the torture center in Cube, the list goes on and on...oh, but of course, we here on the site must not forget that it is not good for the country unless Unholy benefits personally from what is going on in government. You should be happy the stimulus was passed, because you will have to pay less taxes, and we all know how much you love that.

I am loyal to my party yes, but it is not blind loyalty. It just so happens that the past few Democratic candidates for office have been the best candidates. Gillibrand, Cuomo, Schumer, Clinton, Obama and now Scott Murphy. I thought you hated career politicians, why would you wantsomeone like Tedisco in?

Not really convinced that the stimulous is anything but a way for them to penetrate our rectums even deeper.

Apparently they are supposed to give us $13 extra in our paychecks each week, for what its worth. I was hoping they would all forgiveness of the first-time homebuyer's tax credit for my 2008 and 2009 but I believe both of those were axed. I would like to think though that spending $700 billion on a stimulus plan is going to be worth more in the long run than the $700 billion we have spent on the war in Iraq, but for some reason many do not bat an eye that we've spent so much on war...

In 2006, Sundwall wasn't allowed on the ballot, even though he had enough signatures on his petitions. Given the Libertarian Party's fiscally conservative stance, I think Tedisco would draw more votes away from Sundwall than Murphy will.

Also, Gillibrand is a fairly conservative Democrat, unlike most, and Sweeney self-destructed in 2006. That allowed her to win. Her performance on the job and her incumbent status led to her overwhelming victory in 2008. Republicans outnumber Democrats in this district something like 3 to 1, so Murphy winning the election is unlikely.

Well Roy, despite being a conservative democrat, Kirsten is still a democrat, and still won both times on a ballot in the overwhelmingly republican district, so Scott winning isn't all that farfetched. This district also voted overwhelmingly for Obama and the past two democratic Senators, so there must be a whole heck of a lot of republicans voting for democratic candidates...

Scott Murphy also has the funds to finance his campaign - but does he have enough time to become as well known as Career Politician Tedisco.

You have no original thought - you just spew the same rhetoric as "your" party. You just don't get it do you.
It ain't about Obama, McCain, Republicans, Democrats, black, white, male, female ....it's about the rich. There isn't going to be any change when all that is cared about is the rich. The rich and big business run this country ....the color of the presidents skin might have changed - but thats the only change going on .....he's still privileged and rich.

These bailouts are a joke - its business as usual - the American public is being taken for a ride. This is not change. I work in big business - i see it first hand - layoffs are in place to keep the rich still rich - we care only about the stockholders and the upper management - we only care about double digit growth - we outsource - we cut benefits - we get ruled with fear.

Scott Murphy is a slick talking business man just like the rest of them - i highly doubt he cares about his potential constituents but rather how this whole deal benefits him. Be it Republican or Democrat - its all the same.

If i used to big of words, let me know and I can dumb it down for you.

The only person i attack is you - because it's mostly fun ....and Whitey - i like to call him Cracker - that's about it.

I want a farmer ..a guy that understands work ethic - knows what its like to bust his butt for money - i want him for a politician.

I want a truck driver - a person that drives all night to get food on the table for his family - i want him for a politician.

I want the local pizza show owner that lives with the rest of us and understands our concerns - i want him for a politician.

A garbage collector - a local home improvements contractor - a waiter or waitress - a school teacher ....i want common people in politics that understand what it means to work - thats the change we need.

I think the Democrats are patting themselves on the back because they elected a person of color - a "change" ...i think people were so focused on skin color that they lost perspective. Obama is not change any more than McCain would have been change.

In short, Unholy, you want someone like Eric Sundwall. He has a degree from SUNY Albany and has worked in IT for most of his career so far. He has a typical, dual-income family with a couple of kids, trying to make ends meet just like most of us.
