Malta ethics issue raised Town councilwoman questions supervisor in contract action
By DAN HIGGINS, Staff writer First published: Thursday, December 27, 2007
MALTA -- A Town Board member has filed an ethics complaint against town Supervisor Paul Sausville, accusing him of wrongly changing a contract the town had with a consultant without full approval of the board.
The accusation, from Councilwoman Susan Nolen, a Republican, is related to a consultant's work with the expanded Malta Community Center. Sausville, also a Republican, told the consultant -- Boston architecture firm Bargmann, Hendrie and Archetype Inc. -- that he would like them to provide a quote on a new swimming pool for the project. The request came from town residents who attended public input sessions on the community center expansion.
I thought this issue was dead as the town voted to expand the community center. I have an idea that everyone in the town will problably love to come together on...........
I recommend we start a petition to impeach Sue Nolen- any takers?
inb4 Ann24 claims I'm Sue's number one fan. Pesce off.
I have to disagree. Sue Nolan may be an awfully angry lady, but she's absolutely right here. Paul's not mayor, he's not king, and he's definitely not Dave Effing Meager. Even if he were, this isn't Meager's Malta anymore.
Paul's got one vote, same as the rest of them. He cannot unilaterally wheel and deal with developers or contractors or consultants or anybody. Have you ever seen him in a meeting? The dude can't (or won't, which is worse) even hold his party line pawns in check.
Tara, this goes back to well before the town vote. I think I'd have to read (and understand) the contract between the town and the consultant to know whether Sue has a valid complaint or not. Since I'm not a lawyer, I'll reserve judgement until we hear something official from someone unbiased.
I'm sure if he would stop flinging poo the other monkeys would stop trying to mount him. A head full of bananas doesn't help with that condition, either...
Speaking of hairy old filth-flingers, where is Ann24? S/he's gone awfully quiet after the election. Maybe the ethics charges are keeping him/her from sleeping soundly...
what the hell are you talking about? cut out all the cute bs. if this is really something we should be concerned about tell us about it in an adult manner without all the f'ing bs political crap. thank you.
Oh here we go. Isn't that PRECISELY the defense that Paul is claiming innocence under? I don't think anyone else has ever brought that up. I haven't read what the attorney sent back, but if you're back to posting on here under this pseudonym for another one of your propaganda pieces, I might as well read it.
I'm pretty sure your quote was "this is a dysfunctional board" and the applaud was for your startling realization that you can't play politic against someone who has sat on the ethics board and actually knows the rules. Frankly, you have to nothing. You already questioned if Elected Public Representatives are Malta Employees. It doesn't matter if you outright threaten people's jobs for supporting a campaign against you. Maybe you should get Lynda to pass a petition, those seem to work out pretty well for you.
PS I know what DWI you're talking about, and it only proves my suspicions further. I'd learn to edit and rethink my posts if I were you, Paul, lest you get a couple of drinks in you and have to blame your grandkids for getting on your computer without your permission.
