Thanks, york beach. Which member of the company was it? It is important to know who is trying to taint the whole company for political gain.

You answered your own question earlier in this blog.

Yorkbeach, I was not attacking the fire company in terms of what their job really is. I admire the work that you all do as volunteers. The community definately needs you. However, I had a legitmate question and all I needed was an answer. Thank you for clearing the air on the matter.

I think post count is inversely proportional to having a life.

Hoki - I'll be the first to admit I don't have a life. But sometimes this site is good entertainment

How exactly would an individual's truck parked outside a fire house necessarily suggest that the fire department had made an endorsement, let alone spent any money on it? By the way, why hasn't anyone commented on Planner's snappy Florentine hat? Planner, are you emulating the Medici or Borgia families?
Thank you Merry, I appreciate the kind words. Off to the duomo with me now....Catherine and Lorenzo would be proud! Fire department or no fire department, Paul Sausville needs to go...

1 - exactly what has Paul done wrong that would affect me as a Malta resident (and I don't want to hear about how he doesn't get along with Sue, because that does not affect the average citizen).
2 - I need a reason NOT to vote for Paul. Is there another candidate out there that is better to run the town then him? If so, i'd like to hear why I should vote for someone else. The likely response will be negatives about Paul, but I would really like to hear some positives that another candidate has to offer.

1 word "Cabellas" instead he said Yes to Saratoga Hosp and a Church. Now don't get me wrong but to take over 200 acres off the tax roll in 1 swoop of the pen in anyones mind has to be "Nuts"

Since I don't work from negatives, I will indulge your request... I would like to see a candidate who intends to follow the Town's master plan which I believe was adopted in 2005 when Mr. Sausville was part of the planning board. It is my understanding that Mr. Sausville is against the idea of a “downtown” clustered around the intersection of routes 9 and 67. The approved Master Plan calls for relatively dense development of small homes, apartments, condos and stores in a walkable area. One of the reasons our Master Plan was approved was to fight the "sprawl" that you can see happening in Glenville. However, I believe that Mr. Sausville rallies against our Master Plan to such an extent that Malta could end up facing lawsuits from developers and builders whose application's are arbitrarily denied. Mr. Sausville was quoted last year as saying, "we don't want to lose our small-town character... we like Malta just the way it is: we don't want to be Saratoga Springs, ... Clifton Park... [or] Albany." http://blog.timesunion.com/cro...gn-malta-but-how/99/Let's face it, with GF coming in, Malta is going to change. But we need to have a supervisor that is cognizant of this fact and is ready to face those challenges with intuitiveness and not just a bull-headed attitude about keeping things the same.

We are well aware of the truck and the signage on it that was mentioned in this blog. That person has been asked not to park that vehicle near or around the firehouses and, that issue is being looked into by the administrative section of the Fire Company. No money from the Fire Company contract, money collected through coin drops or from fund drives has ever, nor will it ever go to any sort of political funding. Any money that is donated, or given to the Fire Company goes towards equipment and maintenence on the apparatus.
Remember, one person does not make an entire Fire Company and, I do not beleive an entire company should be judged on one persons indiscretion. Political Science and silent hovering you both are entitled to your opinions however, instead of hiding behind these posts why not step up to the plate. We have our company meetings the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 7:30pm. Why not come to the firestation and, we will gladly show you where every penny goes from the contract and donations. It is all on paper and documented.
York Beach, you are right. The fire company should not be judged by one [rogue] fireman. The services offered by the Malta Ridge Fire Company are above reproach and we, as property owners, reap the rewards. What you may know, but others in this Town may not, is that the ISO (Insurance Services Office) rating for our town is listed as superior which means our home owner insurance rates remain lower than other areas. This rating is based on three things: (1) the Fire Company; (2) the water main & hydrant capabilities; and (3) 9-1-1 dispatch services. Kudos to the fire company for your superior work! I don't think anyone here on this Board or in the Town would at all diminish or take for granted the volunteer work and professionalism that is exhibited by the Malta Ridge Fire Company. Now that we've learned that the fire company is NOT endorsing any town candidate and that it is taking care of the signage issue, I think we can move on from this direct topic and allow the firefighters to focus on the excellent service they always perform for our town.

It's easy to knock Paul, and you may be right about what happened with Cabela's, but I would like to choose a candidate based on what they will do differently. I have not heard from Sue as to why I should vote for her in the primary.
Does she plan on offering other ideas...

That knock wasn't just for Paul, All the people sitting in the front of the room that night share the blame for letting this and other projects that would have made our "nice little town" money in the future not distant future.

Paul also met with a guy from the DOT before the consultant was to make a report on the downtown plan and the consultant lied about pre-meeting when asked. Paul affirmed it. So in order to get rid of the downtown plan he hates, he let a state employee lie to the town.
