Above is an interesting editorial that was in the Schenectady Daily Gazette last Friday (11/23) regarding full time hours for full time pay by the Town Clerk.
she lost by an impressively small margin- especially for a long shot. I'll bet a contribution to the opposition to development is because the new people are likely to be social liberals and fiscal conservatives. These types won't be impressed by any of the ex-favored incumbents. Cross your fingers they don't have stay at home partners with nothing to do but go to town board meetings.
Cynthia, if you're reading this, keep on keepin' on.
Maltamaniac - what a nasty thing to say about Cynthia Young! Far from being a "loser" she has performed a community service by her willingness to run against the establishment here in Malta. Her campaign served to keep the current officials accountable. If nobody ran they would continue to do as they please without having to worry about democratic challenges. I believe Cynthia ran a positive campaign and, for the Demoratic underdog, won a large percentage of the votes.
I, for one, am hoping she runs again next time - "If at first you don't succeed ...".
I was heartened to see the Gazette editorial - it kind of shocked me that there was such complacency here in Malta about the fact that the Town Clerk was working and getting paid for 2 jobs simultaneously. I always thought that falsifying time records was a serious offense. I was happy to see that at least the editors of the Gazette saw the problem immediately. I wish they had published it before the election.
We all want what is best for Malta. We also want what is best for ourselves. Take a look at the voting records of Nolen and Sausville. On topics that really matter to Malta, they tend to agree. Their disagreements come in their personal and political encounters. I'll bet even Whitey and Ann agree on most things that really matter to the town.
