Dear Sgt. Cook:

Thank you for writing me regarding your concerns over the Luther Forest Technology Campus. I appreciate your support of my efforts of Assembly Minority Leader and value your opinion on this important issue.

As a former entrepreneur and CEO, I share your concerns about responsible development. It is important for us to provide a balance between new growth and re-development. I egree that efforts should be made to encourage the use of existing structures. However, it would not be in the best interest of Saratoga County to prohibit businesses seeking to move into the area from constructing new buildings to fit thier needs. I respect your concern for the future economic health of Saratoga County and fully understand your desire to see that the growth created by the presence of Global Foundries remains viable should the chip plant leave the area.

Global Foundries has made a commitment to stay in Saratoga County for a number of years. I am hopeful that the company's residence will spur economic development that is sustainable long beyond the company's existence.

I am pleased that your interest in this important issue has motivated you to attend meetings with GlobalFoundries representatives to learn more about the company's plans. If you continue to have reservations about this project, I would suggest that you contact Brian Hannafin at New York State Department of Economic Development, located at 63 State Street, Albany, NY 12207, by calling (518) 465-8975 or via e-mail at info@nylovesnano.com

Sincerely,

Brian M. Kolb

Assembly Minority Leader
