Dear fellow neighbors:
For those who are interested in town politics and this years election, I have listed the websites to Cynthia Young's and Ryan Gregoire's campaigns. Cynthia Young (D,WFP) is running for Supervisor in Malta. http://www.youngformalta.com/ Ryan Gregoire (NPA,D) is running for Town Council in Malta. http://ryangregoire.com/ I hope everyone will take their time in deciding on their selection for local elected officials. After all, these positions often times have a more meaningful impact on your daily lives. Sincerely, Ryan Gregoire |

We are also choosing two NYS Supreme Court judges that come with a 14 year term. Please choose carefully - this decision impacts law and how its interpreted. Please don't base your decision solely on who campaigned the longest, had political endorsements and the most campaign money. If you do - you will be fooled!

Ryan, Why doesn't the Saratoga County Democratic Committee ever financially support a Democratic candidate in the Town of Malta? You never hear that Larry fellow ever endorsing a Dem in Malta. |

This is like deja vu... DA, every election year, you bring up what is clearly your own personal issue with Larry! No one cares on this board! Let's talk about the real issues, like getting Malta townspeople to vote OUT those elected officials who are irrelevant (e.g., Paul Sausville).

DA,
That is a great question! Larry Bulman who was the former chair of the Saratoga County Democrats is stepping down to work in Washington D.C. as the International President for his union. Therefore, the new chair, Todd Kerner is trying to figure out what is best for the county. Larry Bulman has generously donated to my campaign, however we still do not have the financial resources that my opponents have. That being said, Irish Law Girl has a point. I am hoping residents will look past the political parties and really decide on what candidate will best represent them in Malta. One of the reasons why I am offering Malta a different voice and vision for our future is because we have had one party, one ideology dominate our politics for over 40 years. Malta has undergone significant changes and I believe that this election will really make or break our future. Voters have a choice, they can either re-elect the current administration or they can chose new people to represent them at the local level. Regardless of your political affiliation, I hope that everyone will remove that from the equation. Our town board needs bipartisan representation. Otherwise, we jeopardize the loss of new ideas and thoughts that differ from the mainstream status quo. Thank you, Ryan Gregoire |

Ryan, You missed my point. I'm not talking about who to vote for, i am wondering why the Saratoga County Democratic Party never backs a Democratic candidate in Malta. If you are running under the Democratic line, you should know this. Ask Cynthia, she receives little to no support from the County Dems every year. I bring this up every election season because it's clear the Republican County party actively supports the Republican candidates, but the County Dems throws little to no support to people like Cynthia. I guess you are too new to know the answer to this question. I support you and Cynthia. Paul S has clearly screwed up Malta by first accepting the original Master Plan for building Ellsworth Commons and then changing his mind after seeing it built. That will be his legacy. Gotta love those ORANGE window overhangings at Ellsworth by they way, our downtown is looking like Disney. |
Definitely NOT! Too bad we can't vote on who we want to run as judge in a primary rather than have the candidates' party affiliation and political connections endorse a candidate for us. We only can vote for a NYS Supreme Court Judge as selected by their political party. It's often not the best candidate - just the candidate with the better connections! |
DA, I have to agree with you about those window awnings at Ellsworth! They are hideous! I hope the color fades like the ones at CVS did...
Funny - when the orange awnings first went up I thought Dunkin Donuts was moving into the building! |
DA,
I am not sure why the County Dems have not thrown more support behind Cynthia in the past. I think part of it has to deal with the lack of resources both man power and finances. The orange awnings are certainly an interesting color! I was in attendance at the last planning board meeting and Carrie Woerner asked how the awnings had been selected. Apparently, I believe that the planning board approved that color scheme during the approval process for Ellsworth Commons. Ryan Gregoire |

Does anyone have any pictures of the Riviera Motel? I'm trying to remember their color scheme. Wasn't it 1950's run down paint peeling, with lawn mowers as front yard ornaments? The proposed tattoo parlor for the building closer to Route 9 would have been a definite plus. |
Hopefully, the Riviera Hotel is not the bar by which the planning board compares new projects!
My favorite part of the Riviera was the section on the north side of the property that looked like it was shelled during a war about 50 years ago and left that way. Why isn't that look in the master plan, Peter? I demand that we return to the way it was, with plenty of run down and burned out abandoned buildings and trailers along our main roads. Also, please tear down the global foundries plant and replace it with the original zoning. I'd like a landfill there, please.
Roy your landfill is allowed on the Dunning Street property. |
If you wait 20 years Roy, GloFo will be closed down, and you'll have quadruple the amount of abandoned, foreclosed, vacant formerly habitable structures. |
Excellent. I'm hoping we can build a dump on Dunning where the homeless squatters in the abandoned Ellsworth Commons can scavange 20 years from now. We will also need some pawn shops...
Do you think we'll get 20 years out of GloFo? I figured we would maybe get 10 years maximum before tax incentives from another State start coming in.... |
20 years for this whole Build,Build,Build mindset, Profiteering contractors, Politicians and fellow residents currently have. When Glofo goes, so does those few other businesses relying upon it. Most Planning Board meeting's you'll hear Global Foundries being referenced; it tells me those businesses can't function without a GloFo here. GloFo allegedly pre-rented 200 places in that 5 story contraption on rt9, when GloFo goes does anyone think that those rooms will be in even low demand.
When I go vote, it sure as anything, isn't going to because of the local candidates economics! Unless somebody changes there tone and genuinely is promoting a moratorium. |
