This statement by you John tells me that you have not taken the time to thoroughly read the Master Plan, Downtown Design Standards, Route 9 North and South corridor plans, etc. It also tells me that you have a blatant disregard for the numerous public studys, surveys, workshops, etc. that have taken place over the past 15 years, and the input from the people who participated. It seems that it's not important to you what this community has said to date, only what you want them to say in the future. You have lost my vote. Cynthia Young has been consistent in her attitude toward her community, and I like what David Plante has said on this board. You sir, appear to be narrow minded. Write-in Sue Nolen, Lever pulled Cynthia Young, write-in Dave Plante. No other votes cast.

A few points. The original post for this string contains excerpts directly from the 2005 Master Plan Update. Also, the Master Plan Update we now have is itself a revision to a 2000 revision, and calls for review in 5-10 years. (Master Plan, p. 5) We're now approaching the 5th year. Finally, I've spoken with many of the participants in the 2005 update about the background, process and result. There is some sentiment among that group that the Update as it now stands may not be the best fit for Malta. In fact, there seems to be wide acceptance of the view that the downtown district should not reach north and south on US 9 as it now does.

Here's the deal John; many people in Malta want the downtown as designed by the planners in Malta (LOOK AT THE SURVEYS). 2-4 story buildings = 54' with retail on the lower level and offices and apartments on the upper levels, with gathering/green areas for concerts, ice-skating rinks, etc. They don't want Sprawlsville's one-story enclave's. We've had that in Malta and the businesses aren't successful. Is that what you want? Could the length of the downtown be reduced? Sure, but let's be careful to plan for the future.

I agree, to fit the expected growth with one or two story buildings you're going to end up with a Clifton park Clusterf***.

Agreed! There's a 50' berm (sp?) a couple of hundred feet from my backyard thanks to the construction - 54' is NOT that high... quote: Originally posted by SilentHoveringOrb: I agree, to fit the expected growth with one or two story buildings you're going to end up with a Clifton park Clusterf***.
