That would be on Meadow Rue i guess.

I remember when I was a kid growing up on Thimbleberry my dad and I would walk the old logging tails toward the research center and shoot off 0.22s and 12-Gauge shots. Could just be that.

Hunting is still allowed on the Luther Forest Technology Campus property by permission of the Executive Director. Could have been that, but not sure why anyone would hunt that late at night....
|
What "hunting" is in season now? Deer season ended long ago. Maybe someone illegally taking deer? Or maybe some family dispute? Could have been someone setting off bottle bombs. It will, I'm sure, remain a mystery.

The Most Dangerous Game of course...

Is it possible the noise was from limbs breaking? The was heavy and the trees have all been stressed from the ice storm. When two of my neighbor's trees broke during that storm, it sure sounded like shots to me.

HUH? | ||||

No not tree limbs. I know gun shots when I hear them. I used to live on a Mt. in Columbia County where deer hunting was going on in December each year. I think some one was doing illegal hunting at 11:30 pm. No one has been reportd murdered so my guess is that.

I'm sorry, Honey. I didn't mean to dismiss you. On the other hand, you did point out that no murder has been reported to which I would at yet. With all this snow, we have no way of knowing what will turn up in the Forest in the spring.
