Does anyone know why Paul Sausville won't debate Sue Nolen? I heard he was offered several dates and that the Malta Business group was sponsoring it.

I don't know why, but I know Sue came around our neighborhood and they loved her! Maybe he's afraid he can't compete with what she stands for. She talks alot about economic development and the downtown. We need that!

I'm not surprised. Incumbents will typically not participate in the debates. Instead, they run on ignorance. What I mean is that people typically will vote the incumbent because they do not know where the other candidates stand. A debate is the perfect forum for learning about the other candidate - Sausville obviously does not want the public to know where Nolen stands on the issues that will impact our town.

Anybody have any ideas on how to FORCE a debate?

I suppose the Malta Business group could hold the "debate" anyway and just get Sue's take on the issues. Since she is so supportive of local businesses it would be a very smart thing for them to do!

If Paul Sausville doesn't want to debate Sue Nolen, the Malta Business should have a meet the candidate night so that they can talk about the issues. Think he would refuse that too? He is a member after all!

Yes that's right Derek (or should I say Holier Than Thou)... then there's you... rants, raves and pretends he gives a rat's a$$ about the town when, in fact, you just like to stir the pot... I may be a "janitor," but you sir are a jerk.

Let it go, Unholy. Just don't get involved in the political "stuff". Everyone has their view of what should be. That's why we have a three party system. Those against, those for and then the undecided. The town has always been divided - it will never be any different.

Aye, all these newbies register just to come on the forums talk s**t. Not even clever, nor thoughtful (trolls and forum flamers). The horrible grammer and spelling I can only hope is due to years of chaw spit and Mountain Dew being spilled on keyboards and mouses.

I don't really have any issue with Planner, known the guy for years and he's a smart guy. Opinionated like the rest of us, but at least he can form his thoughts in the form of cogent text.

QB, The term "gay-boy" is prejorative I believe, the PC term is "Faggot".

Faggot is a perjorative indicating flamboyance. Typically, we associate it with anyone who puts a flagpole in their lawn when they have an awning to attach it to, or stacked spoilers on a ricer 5000, or that guy with the painting of an eagle crying in front of a flag on the back window of his truck. It doesn't have to be an indicator of homosexuality anymore.

its origin is a bundle of sticks for kindling, it was applied to cigarettes as they are burning sticks. Apparently, the usage for burning isn't as common as other etymological explanations. I just read the wiki.

Thanks orb for the kind words. Orb is a great guy as well and I always enjoy reading your posts. Always entertaining and always able to get under the skin of those with either no argument and/or no intelligence!

Back to the topic at hand- why don't they debate on this board? I know more people read it than post here, and that Sue and Peter and Tara are on here (publicly) already. So get Tom and Paul and Maggi and John and Cynthia on here publicly and they can even give thoughtful responses to their questions- no chance for misspeaking.
