Whitey, Pauly won't come on here because I already made a comment before the campaign that he'll be appearing on here soon attempting to address everyone's concerns, and then disappear for another few years from this site. People that work at the the town hall said he's pissed about it now and feels he'll look bad if he comes on here now.

why would Sue or Paul come on this site - only to get anonymously bashed ?

Most of these people would not say what they say unless they can hide.

Even if it's anonymous bashing, they only have to defend the factual accusations, id est when the source doesn't matter.

Hey Whitey, don't you remember the last election cycle when I started a thread for this very reason? All of the candidates came on and presented their platforms and answered some questions. Then it descended into the typical morass of insults and accusations which make this site dreaded by politicians throughout the land (well, the land of Malta, at least).

Does anyone not know where Nolen and Sausville stand on the issues important to Malta? Anyone that would attend that debate already knows. Anyone that doesn't know, wouldn't be bothered to attend the debate. I think a debate would be a waste of time.

The incumbent argument you offered doesn't really fly here, since Nolen has been on the town board far longer than Sausville. It isn't like Supervisor is a very different position. He (or she) just gets to run the board meetings.

Yeah, and that time there were actual meet the candidates nights, too. The committee candidates are bailing on that, and we're already chewing on them.

That's what it always was, that's what it still should be and isn't, that's what it will be again with Supervisor Nolen!

I suppose the Malta Business group could hold the "debate" anyway and just get Sue's take on the issues. Since she is so supportive of local businesses it would be a very smart thing for them to do!

oh, yes, especially since Sue thought so much of the Malta business community that SHE MOVED HER BUSINESS TO CLIFTON PARK....hahahahaa!!..

If Sausville won't debate Sue Nolen, my vote goes to Nolen. I don't want to elect a politician who wants to hide from his constituency during his election. I don't think we can truly know Sausville's stand on the issues if he won't debate.

Actually, I guess she not only thought alot of her business community but the town's residents too! She sold her business on the corner where the gazebo is now and we all have the benefits of the best equipped Price Chopper around, a laundromat, liquor store, drug store, vitamin store, hair salon, Subway, Taco Bell, a bank.....! She just couldn't afford to stay in Malta (notice she kept the name though). Let's hope she makes it alot more advantageous for small businesses in Malta once she's elected Supervisor.
