Headroom is still doing auditions for a Lead guitar player. Our age range is 45-52, we practice once a week in Glenville and gig 2-3 times per month. Excellent equipment and attitudes. We need a Lead player that is familiar with the tunes we do. If you are in our age range you will have grown up with these tunes, if you are not in our age range but are a versatile musician then you should have played at least some of them. We are not asking that you know every tune note for
note but you should at least have knowledge of classic rock tunes and hopefully have played them elsewhere. |

Make sure you know their entire set list before showing up. Asking them beforehand if there are any specific songs to learn will only get you a "No, what you already know is fine," but will cause them to complain after the fact that you didn't know the whole list. Apparently 5 or 6 songs at an audition is not enough for them to figure out whether or not you'd be a good fit.
Good luck. |

Not sure who Finster is, but I am the rhythm player for The Headroom Band. First of all we audition players first time in for approx 1 hour, so its an ignorant rediculous comment to say we complain if you don't know our entire set list, because unless you can play 40 songs in an hour, you wouldn't get through the "entire" list or even come close anyway. We can tell pretty quickly if someone is a good fit or not in an hour and then decide if we want to bring that person back in for a second audition and spend more time with them.
So if there are any "mature" experienced lead players who would like a shot, give us a shout. No need to hear from disgruntled "wanna be" lead players....don't waste your time or ours! |

To quote from the almost identical ads from craigslist and parkway: "Please don't come to an audition and tell us as we go down the list that you don't know these songs;
ITS LIKE WELL WHY ARE YOU HERE!!!!! Sorry if it sounds like a rant but this is the way its been." This implies that everyone who auditioned didn't know enough songs from your set list, and the poster was complaining about that fact. If there were specific songs from the list, or a certain minimum number of songs that each auditioner should know, you guys should make that known ahead of time. Before I auditioned, I told you I knew 5 or 6 of your songs. You told me not to learn anything new -- that we'd just run through what I already knew. I learned a couple extra anyway. When I got there, you guys couldn't play a few of the tunes on your list for a variety of reasons. That's not my fault. You could have told me that beforehand instead of waiting until I showed up. It did, however, reduce the number of songs we could go through. You guys shouldn't complain if you don't allow your auditioners to be prepared. As for your comment about "mature" experienced players, take a look at your own band before pointing the finger at others. I left the audition knowing it could have gone better for all of us, and moved on. Whoever whined in the initial postings made this issue public. Perhaps this "maturity" you speak of is an indication of why you've had so much turnover. |

iThe song list on the web site has been updated to remove songs our previous guitarist sang. Is it so wrong to think that someone who
applies for a CLASSIC ROCK LEAD GUITARIST would actually be familiar with most of our songs??? Its not like they are obscure. If you haven't heard them or even played most of them then I don't know what to tell you, maybe you should change radio stations or something. And if you are the guy with the tinny high pitched guitar that would shatter glass and made my ears bleed then enough said!!!! |
