MALTA — The town received a nearly $1.1 million mitigation payment this week for allowing overhead high-voltage power lines to be built into the Luther Forest Technology Campus.

It is the second $1 million payment connected to the tech park the town has received in less than a week.

Put that towards the Volunteer fund and lower our taxes.
Give it to the school system and lower our taxes.
Do anything with it to lower our taxes.

We are on the lookout for ways to reduce taxes, but we got the powerline money because the original plan was to string very ugly high voltage lines across Rte 9. That plan changed and part of the the lines will now be under the road. Spending this money has to be tied to the reason we got it, which means reducing visual impacts of overhead power lines (or something closely related).

Peter, I recently took a bike ride into the Tech Park area and came across a beautiful open area, with gorgeous green, trimmed grass. Is this area going to be used for the Malta Baseball fields?
