A community day in which residents will be invited to tour the now cordoned-off construction site has been scheduled for Oct. 24.

I don't know who wrote this article, and who the writer interviewed, but it's not true that there is virtually no noise. I live on Sand Spurrey and every day I am rumbled out of bed. People don't complain because we feel there is nothing we can do about it. Sure, we can call the hotline, but what will happen? Will they stop working at 7am, or less noisily? I think not. Building is noisy, especially when it's in one's backyard. The coming cold weather helps, though, because our windows are closed.

I had to chuckle when I read the TU article about the lack of construction noise and lack of complaints. Apparently, they don't read the comments on the LF site.

Yeah, but you arn't hearing construction from the chip fab plant, you're hearing construction noise from the Plum Poppy Project, which is unrelated. So really, the article is still right, considering Ermine Lair is about 3,000 feet closer to the chip fab construction than Sand Spurry.

And there is construction in the NYSERDA site and LFTC roadway construction. The road construction is supposed to be done within a month or so. The NYSERDA HVCC building is supposed to be occupied in early 2010, so I imagine they will be moving to indoor construction very soon.

That's good news. Hopefully by next summer the noise will be less.
