There has been a small-medium sized black and white tuxedo cat roaming around Larkspur and he seems to come to our house quite a bit. He has no collar and is EXTREMELY friendly.
We even drove around the neighborhood looking to see if anyone had seen him. He's been coming around for about 2 weeks now.
Today was pouring rain and I was surprised to see him out and about. Very social and definitely not a feral cat. Kitty looks to be a neutered male and did not mind driving around in the car or coming when called.
If this is your cat or you KNOW who's cat it might be, please let us know. He likes to come around to our windows and look at our other cats. He's gorgeous ... and I sure hope that he is someone's pet. If so, please consider putting a collar on him or keeping him indoors.
This guy is still hanging around Larkspur but seems like he could have come from the other direction like Rosebay. If anyone hears of a little black and white (looks like a neutered male) missing ... please let me know.
We currently have 5 cats in our care (who own us). One of them arrived to us in 2007 as a result of this board (BOO BOO KITTY) and is doing fine. He is a very happy, thriving cat who has integrated well with our other 4. I love training the little guys.
"Tuxedo Joe" (what we call him) is a hungry little guy and I don't know how much longer we want to leave him out to the elements. His front claws are barely there (they are very worn down and he's too small to put up a fight).
Can anyone offer to help us with an initial vet visit bill (deworming, all shots, cleaning, testing) if we take him in??? I wouldn't normally put it out there ... but times are tough and a little chipping in would help. The way we saw he eat food last night showed us he was starving. My tolerance for leaving him out there for much longer is waning.
You could take him to The Haven on Rt 9 (I think she got rid of that rude front desk person). She'll fix him up and put him up for adoption or at least possibly give you a break on fees. A phone call to her would give you some answers. Good luck and God bless you for your kindness to the other kitties in your house.
Thank you JP. We will definitely go in that direction. His little front paws are so worn down so he has been traveling I think. We are going to work with the neighbor across the street and collaborate because she uses The Haven. I think that would be the best option to get him set up with shots, etc. This little guy is so sweet.
From the looks of him, he must be lost. Since he's not shy in any way, he probably did have a home and was loved. Of course, he can't just be left to fend for himself now, so you're doing the right thing.
Yes, when he comes our way we are going to trap him and take him to the Vet. He's definitely a lost kitty. This week we'll see if we can take care of him.
Tuxedo Joe came around this evening and we decided to bring him in instead of letting him continue to wander. He seems exhausted (but happy) and extremely hungry. Now he has a place to sleep and will be in solitude until we get him properly tested, etc. He seems relieved and happy to be in a safer space. Now he can sleep a night without having to worry about Fisher cats or any other type of bad Luther Forest animal (he's so small and barely has any front claws). I'm always thankful when we can help one out.
Tuxie slept like a charm and used the litter box like he knew exactly what it was. Went in to visit him this morning and he was happy for more food and affection. Sweet little cat. Morning appointment for me and then will take him to the vet.

Every little dollar would help (The Haven takes cash only). VERY MUCH APPRECIATED!
The thought of a Fisher cat or some other creature getting to this obviously domesticated cat just broke out hearts. He was wandering and lost -- but not anymore. We are checking shelters and vets. He seems a little older to me but is a small cat. He just wants people.
I think he just won your heart. Let us know how you make out at the vet. I would take him but I don't think my cat would adjust to having another cat around.
I loved the vet at The Haven. Straight forward and sweet and affordable. We will call later this evening for the results of the Feline Leukemia and Aids (we have no positive cats and I am praying he isn't).
According to Desiree, he is between 5-7 years old and by his lack of muscle mass has been scrounging around for food for a long while -- so it appears he has been abandoned or just lost his way Some people just shouldn't be pet owners. I have to take a stool sample over when I can get one (just didn't think of it). She told us he needs food and we will get his strength and spirit up in no time.
The visit was under $100 - so I was so, so pleased!!!! He is a neutered male and as far as we can see, he is now "Tuxedo Joe" and will be added to our household routines over the next several weeks little by little (once I get clearance from the vet for diseases). Slow integration is the key.
Thanks everyone, pray for a negative test -- because that brings up other challenges in and of itself. He will trained as our others have and will be indoor. No more wandering. He's home.
